Delivery of Chevrolet cars to Lend-Lease from the United States began in 1942. Until the end of the war, the number of these vehicles in the Soviet Army exceeded 47,000 units. Thanks to these trucks, the level of mechanisation and mobility of combat formations reached a new level. Chevrolet trucks were used both in combat units and rear support units. They were used to transport infantry, as well as being used as artillery tractors, ambulances, mobile radios, and to deliver ammunition, etc.
In addition to the main modification, the army also used the G7117 modification, which was distinguished by the presence of a winch in the front of the chassis. Reliable enough and easy to operate, and with good manoeuvrability, these trucks were loved and respected by soldiers. After the end of the war, they continued to serve in the Soviet Army until the mid-1950s.
