KMS Railtech
KMS Railtech was born after Karl and Mike bought TouchCab, the App that allows you to control your model railway from your phone or tablet.
Karl and Mike are both very keen model railway enthusiasts with a vast range of experience in many aspects of the hobby. We are active modellers, and believe in making the hobby accessible and appealing to all, from kids to the "big kids". We believe that TouchCab helps in this, but we wanted to go further.
Jamie joined the company and we expanded the offering to everyone.
We then decided to setup shop in our local area. KMS Railtech @Strachans of Inverurie was born. This is an innovative joint venture with Strachans, an already established toy shop, and ourselves to provide a local retail experience for model railway enthusiasts in Aberdeenshire.
After 1 year we out grew the area we had within Strachans and found a business unit in Alford "the heritage centre of Aberdeenshire":.
The shop is now bursting with model railway items of all gauges and prototypes.
KMS believe in "Shop Local" which is why we''ve started on this venture. We also believe in offering specialist help and support for our products. On top of our vast experience in model railways, and our professional experience and knowledge from the oil industry, we are also teaming up with manufacturers to become "Product Heroes". We think this is a great concept, and hope to collaborate with other manufacturers in a similar manner.
Shop Local
We believe in the "Shop Local" concept, which is prominent in Inverurie. However, there has not been, until now, the ability to shop local as a model railway enthusiast, particularly for anyone interested in DCC. We aim to change this.
Although we have this web shop, we would encourage you to visit your local model shop if you are not in the Aberdeenshire area. Model shops are an important aspect for our hobby! That said, if you insist on shopping online, then we are happy to welcome you as a customer.
Digital
We have a special interest in digital command control. We own and develop the worlds best wireless throttle for DCC! TouchCab is a great way to get kids involved in the hobby, because kids love smartphones!
