The passenger car Moskvitch-400 was in production at the Moscow Plant of Small Cars (ZMA) from December 1946 onwards. It was an exact copy of the pre-war 4-door Opel Kadett K38 variant. It was replaced by an improved Moskvitch-401 model with increased engine power from 1954. Moskvitch cars were produced in different types. Moskvitch-401-420A cars with 4-door cabriolet-saloon open bodies were less numerous. In total, 17,742 cabriolets were produced from 1949 until 1954.
