The Renault Company began designing cab over AH series trucks for the French Army in 1939. One of them was the AHN truck of 3.5-tonne capacity. This truck was equipped with a 6-cylinder engine and had rear-wheel drive only. From March 1941 onwards, production was resumed under the control of the German occupation administration. AHN trucks were widely used by all parts of the German army up until the end of World War II. Around 4,000 AHN trucks were manufactured from 1941 to 1944. Some of were adapted with shelters and were used as ambulance trucks.
