A significant part of the German Wehrmacht vehicle fleet during World War II was made up of 1.5-tonne cargo trucks. One of the most popular was the Typ 2,5-32, produced from 1938 onwards at the Opel plant in Brandenburg. This rear-wheel drive truck was equipped with a 6-cylinder engine that was also used in the Opel Kapitän luxury passenger car.
The Typ 2,5-32 trucks were widely used by all parts of the German army up until the end of war, such as at the Soviet-German front, in Italy, and in France. Some of these vehicles had shelters and were used as ambulance trucks.
